The City of Thorold is ramping up its effort in the battle against COVID-19, and are closing all park amenities and playground equipment.

Effective immediately, the City of Thorold is closing all park amenities and playground equipment in its efforts to reduce the risk of spreading the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

This includes all playground equipment, the band shell, monuments, decks, ball diamonds, bocce courts, tennis courts, soccer fields, skate parks, gazebos, splash pads, basketball courts or any amenities having contact surfaces.

This equipment is not sanitized and not maintained to a standard to make it safe for its users at this time.

Trails, parkettes and other greenspaces are available for public use during daytime hours however, residents are reminded to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and to keep healthy, follow these simple steps:

• Stay home if you’re sick

• Wash your hands often – use soap and water or hand sanitize; avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands

• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or into your sleeve

• Practice social distancing

• Avoid sharing personal items – especially those that come into contact with saliva
