Two pharmacies in the region are now offering asymptomatic COVID- 19 testing after Niagara Health scaled back its availability to only include people who meet certain criteria.

One Shoppers Drug Mart-location in St Catharines and one in Niagara Falls are currently the only two locations offering the service.

Both require an appointment in order for a test to be taken.

As the second wave settles in Ontario, the province has been bracing for increasing testing numbers.

Today's provincial update states there were 38,375 tests processed in a 24-hour period, and there are 54,759 tests awaiting results.
