Outbreaks of COVID-19 have been declared at several long-term care facilities over the past week.

On Sunday, Floor 4 and 5 at Albright Manor in Lincoln were put under outbreak status.

The day before, May 16, outbreaks were declared at Kilean Lodge in Grimsby and West Park Health Centre in St. Catharines.

In total, there are now nine active outbreaks, with the longest ongoing since March 27.

Despite the growing list, the regional case count remains in the single digits, continuing a trend that health officials have been optimistic about for the past week.

On Tuesday, 615 cases of COVID-19 had been found in Niagara since March 13, with the majority now listed as recovered.

Currently, 111 cases are listed as active.

The number of deaths remains 58, of which 81 per cent have been in long-term care or retirement home residents.
