July 1st is fast approaching – but it won't be Canada Day as usual in Niagara as the pandemic has put a cap on the official celebrations normally hosted by area municipalities.

However, officials are not skimping out on providing entertainment to go along with the Oh Canada-celebrations that will most likely occur at home for many residents.

Niagara Region has partnered up with the 12 municipalities and Niagara Parks Commission to offer a 'Canada Day, the Niagara Way'-production, featuring local hit makers Tim Hicks, Spencer Burton, Great Lake Swimmers, Avenue Inn and Juliet Dunn.

The livestream will begin at 11 a.m. on the regions website and their Facebook page.

A separate livestream on the City of Niagara Falls Facebook-page will feature a performance from the town native, world-wide dubstep phenomenon Deadmau5 along with Honeymoon Suite and LMT Connection.

The town also announced a hoist of prizes for locals who submit pictures from their celebrations.

Details on that contest found here.

The Federal government will be celebrating 'Canada Day Across the Country' at 1 p.m. and 'Canada Day Together' at 8 p.m on. CBC, as well as the official Canadian Heritage Facebook page.

Thorold mayor Terry Ugulini said he will deliver his regular Canada Day-address that normally is delivered in Beaverdams Park virtually.

Links will be found on the city website.
