COVID-19: 27 cases, one new nursing home outbreak reported in Niagara on Saturday

NRPH confirmed another 27 cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, and more cases of the variant in Niagara.

According to public health statistics, 115 variant cases have been detected in screening, but only 4 cases have been confirmed to be the U.K variant.

There are 241 confirmed active cases in the region and 27 active outbreaks.

Five of those are in health-care or long term care settings.

The latest home to confirm an outbreak is Albright Manor in Lincoln, that was added to the outbreak list today.

373 Niagara residents have died after testing positive for the virus.

The two latest deaths were recorded by public health this week.

As of Thursday Niagara Health had administered 24,364 vaccinations.  

Of that, 21,329 were first doses and 3,035 were second doses.

Niagara Public Health said it had administered 13,201 doses to residents in long-term care and retirement homes.
