BREAKING: 21 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Niagara on Tuesday

Highest jump in daily cases since June – new health-care facility outbreak declared

Niagara Regional Public Health reports 21 new cases of COVID-19 in the region on Tuesday.

The increase is the highest daily jump in cases since the beginning of June.

There are now 81 active cases of the virus in the region with the highest concentration in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

There are 8 outbreaks in the region, of which 5 are active health-care facility outbreaks, after Hotel Dieu Shaver in St Catharines declared an outbreak in the entire facility on Monday.

Just over 50 percent of the cases are associated with an outbreak, said the region on Tuesday.
