A single case of COVID-19 was reported in Niagara on Tuesday.

The significantly lower daily count of new lab-confirmed cases comes after Ontario reported only 33 cases in the entire province – dramatically down from recent weeks count which has been in the low 100's or below.

6 cases have recovered from yesterday, bringing the total of active cases to 40 across Niagara.

At least one new smaller outbreak outside of a medical facility was reported on Tuesday.

There are now two health-care outbreaks and five community outbreaks, which public health says is the main driver of new cases in the region.

Most new cases are now found in ages 20-39.

That age category is now also closing in on the 80+ group in new cases connected to outbreaks.

30 Thorold residents have contracted COVID-19 since March 13.

There is currently one active case in town, regional statistics show.
