Niagara Region Public Health reports a single case of COVID-19 on Friday, following yesterday's 4 cases.

There are now 38 active cases of COVID-19 in Niagara, mainly found in Lincoln, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Niagara Falls

Ages 20-39 remain the largest group in which new infections have been discovered which, according to health officials, could be blamed on social gatherings taking place in the recently reopened economy.

Four so-called 'community outbreaks', either centered around a workplace or social gatherings are still ongoing, while two medical facilities, RH Lawson Eventide Home in Niagara Falls and Garden City Manor in St Catharines continue to battle the virus.

In the province on Friday, 92 cases were reported, with the highest increase today coming from Toronto, where 30 new lab-confirmed cases of the infection were found.

Across Ontario, more than 30,100 people were tested for COVID-19 yesterday. That brings the total number of tests conducted in the province to 2,528,403.

As of today, there are just 41 patients in Ontario who are hospitalized as a result of COVID-19. Among them, 17 are in intensive care units, while nine are currently needing a ventilator to breathe.
