Niagara Public Health reports two new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.

The cases follow yesterday's zero new cases in the region.

There was no immediate information on where the new cases had been discovered.

There are currently three active outbreaks in retirement- and long term care homes in Niagara, where some new cases have been found in the last week, Public Health said.

It is believed that Niagara Region will get the go-ahead to enter Stage 3 of the provincial reopening this coming Monday.

If so, many establishments not previously cleared for opening will get the chance to open on July 24.

On Thursday, Ontario reported 111 new cases and 5 additional deaths, which follows a downward trend even after the first regions reopened their economy on May 19.
