Niagara Public health reports 9 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

There are now 41 active cases of the virus in the region.

In total, 809 Niagara residents have contracted the virus, of which 28 are Thorold residents, which is unchanged from the weekend.

The virus is most prevalent in the age group 20-39.

There are three outbreaks active in the region, all of them at long-term care facilities in St Catharines.

Niagara has seen a few days in the last 7 days of higher increases than in past weeks, which have largely been single-digit days as the region prepares for Stage 3 of the regional reopening on Friday.

This weekend, 13 new cases were reported in the region.

Public Health Ontario has reported 203 new COVID-19 cases in the province today.

This is the highest daily case increase logged this month.

The number of cases reported each day in July has ranged from as low as 102 to as high as 170 until today.

Four of the province's 34 health units reported a combined total of 154 of today's new cases.

Peel Public Health reported 57 of today's new cases. Peel remains in Stage 2 of the provincial reopening plan.

Ottawa Public Health, which moved into Stage 3 on July 17, reported 43 new cases.

Toronto Public Health reported 30 new cases, and Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported 24 new cases. Both of those health units remain in Stage 2.

The remaining health units in Ontario reported between zero and ten cases.

In a tweet on Tuesday morning, Minister of Health Christine Elliott called the news 'concerning.'
