34 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Niagara over the weekend

Niagara has seen one of the largest jumps in new COVID-19 cases this summer after a total of 38 cases were confirmed in the region on Saturday (14) and Sunday (24).

There are now 77 active cases of the virus in the region, mainly found in St Catharines and Niagara Falls.

The historic total is 1048 cases since March 13.

At least 64 residents have died after testing positive.

Out of this weekend's new cases, one was confirmed in a Thorold resident.

There are two ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in medical facilities.
