NRPH reports an increase of 10 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, as the region’s historic total surpasses 1300.
All municipalities in Niagara, except Wainfleet, are reporting active cases.
86 residents are reported to have infections that have not yet cleared.
57 cases have been confirmed in Thorold residents.
Provincial update:
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 841 new cases of COVID-19, 741 new recoveries, and nine deaths in its epidemiological report today.
The nine deaths reported today include four people between the ages of 60 and 79 years old, and five people over the age of 80. Three of the people who died were residents of long-term care homes.
Thirty people have been hospitalized with COVID-19 since yesterday's report, and six COVID patients have been admitted to intensive care units.
Of the 841 new cases reported today, 69 per cent are individuals between 20 and 59 years old.
New cases from province's four hotspot regions account for 675 (or 80 per cent) of today's new cases. Toronto Public Health reported 335 cases, Peel reported 162 cases, York reported 106, and Ottawa reported 72.
This is the second-highest number of new COVID-19 cases reported by the province in a single day this week. On Oct. 9, the province reported 939 new cases, which remains the highest daily case count for Ontario to date.
Public Health Ontario confirmed 38,860 COVID tests were processed since the last report, and there are 34,784 awaiting processing at the province's public health labs.
As of yesterday, the per cent positivity rate for the province was 2.5 per cent, which means 2.5 per cent of the people tested for COVID-19 test positive.
There are currently 6,390 active, lab-confirmed cases in the province and 270 of those individuals are hospitalized. There are 74 COVID patients in intensive care and 48 COVID patients on ventilators.
Since January, the province has reported 67,527 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and noted 58,066 cases (86 per cent) as resolved and 3,071 cases (4.5 per cent) as ending in death.
The province has reported 74 new school-related cases today, bringing the total number of school cases reported so far to 1,641 cases spread across 501 schools. There are five schools closed because of COVID-19 cases.
There are seven new cases of the coronavirus reported in child care settings today, bringing the total to 349 cases to date.
The average incidence rate for the province is 454.3 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people.
