ThoroldNews received the following letter to the editor from Community Care’s Maxine Hutchings thanks the community for its support and reminding the public that the organization is celebrating its centennial anniversary this year.
The 2018 Christmas season at Community Care, Thorold was an extremely busy one. Close to 500 families and individuals registered for the Christmas program that included food gift cards for Christmas Dinner, gifts and gift cards for children and the Adopt a Family / Teen / Senior programs.
Community Care, Thorold was generously supported in their work by many who made a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Thanks to the media for telling our stories with thoughtfulness and honesty. Thank you to St. Vincent de Paul - Holy Rosary for partnering with us. Thank you to the children who reached out to help other children in many different ways. Thank you to the business community, faith groups and families and individuals for their kindness and unwavering support that brought people joy and gave people hope. Hope for a better tomorrow where everyone lives with dignity and purpose, where food and warmth is shared by all. With the continued support from the Community at large we will be able to enrich the lives of the most vulnerable one person, one family at a time.
This year marks a milestone for the Community Care organization as they are celebrating their centennial anniversary. Since 1919, Community Care has acted on their mission of assisting those in the community who are in need, striving to support them in achieving self-sufficiency.
Community Care is offered in St. Catharines and Thorold and helps those in need of food, shelter, support and emergency services. These services aid in giving clients the independence they need in order to achieve their goals and to be successful.
Community Care strives to provide the best services possible every day of the week but when the holidays come around, they work particularly hard to show their clients how loved and deserving they are of time spent with their families and friends. Providing support with dignity is an important value to the organization.
Throughout their 100 years, the organization has grown and changed to meet the needs of those most vulnerable in our community.
