ONTARIO: Door cam video captures Guelph sky lit up by downed power lines

Some road closures Sunday morning in two locations as downed power lines get repaired

A resident in the Imperial Road area of Guelph captured the night sky being lit up early this morning by downed power lines.

The video, captured shortly after 1 a.m. on Stephanie Drive, shows blue and white flashes lighting up the sky.

Guelph Police report that roads are still closed after two downed power line situations from the high winds and freezing rain that occurred late Saturday and early Sunday.

All northbound lanes on Highway 6 between Woodlawn Road and Marden are closed and expected to be open later Sunday morning.

Imperial Road North betwen Speedvale Avenue and Massey Road are closed until mid-afternoon Sunday for downed power lines.

Alectra Utilities reports that 23 customers were without power as of mid-morning Sunday as they worked to repair downed lines and restore service.

No injuries were reported form the incidents.
