WATCH: Province hints at changes to social gatherings, emergency childcare

Details to come next week

Update:

Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott says the province is closely studying methods of bringing isolated households together, such as bubbling and cohort families in preparation for the lifting of a restriction barring social gatherings of five or more people.

Elliott says more details will be provided by the province next week.

Premier Doug Ford told reporters Friday that an announcement by education minister Stephen Lecce surrounding emergency childcare and school will also be announced sometime next week.

Original story:

Premier Doug Ford is slated to provide his daily COVID-19 update from Queen's Park today at 1:00 p.m.

The announcement comes one day after Ford unveiled a list of businesses that will be able to reopen as part of the first phase of Ontario’s recovery plan.

Schools and childcare centres remain closed but Ford has promised an announcement on that front next week.

Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and Prabmeet Sarkaria, Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction, to make the announcement.

Village Media will carry the livestream, so stay tuned.
